Yummy Sweet

I just started a new sketchbook and I am exploring images absent of sarcasim. I have been thinking about how the whole ironic, anti-establishment art thing is getting a little old. I like it and all but just wish there was something else. Probably due to the fact that I am seeing a lot of things through the eyes of my daughter. I love all the shiny plastic colors in her toys at this age.

that's because little kid's imaginations are pure and untatinted by the real world. i went through a phase where i was just drawing happy silly things and eventually i started to incorporate a darker element to it. but i really admire people who can keep it clean and fun "all ages" without it being aimed at infants. if you can balance the two, the childlike and the adult, then you have something really special. which is why i love miyazaki's stuff so much. anyway (and i know this is going on and on) i starting to get into the idea of making art with crayons and stuff. seems a great way to channel the inner-child.

I didn't see the sarcasm in your work, but if you say it's there, i'll believe you.

thanks Mike. Sean, I am just saying that it is the way of things in the current art world to be bitter and sardonic. The balance is to have joy but recognize the touch of sorrow. That is life. Thanks for the quote.
